NEW MINIMUM REQUIRED LIMITS FOR PERSONAL AUTO POLICIES IN CALIFORNIA

EffectiveJanuary 1, 2025, California Senate Bill 1107 will increase the minimum required limits for Bodily Injury Liability (including Passenger Liability) and Property Damage Liability for automobile policies in California. All automobile policies will be required to carry a minimum of $30,000 per person and $60,000 per accident for Bodily Injury Liability (including Passenger Liability) and $15,000 per accident for Property Damage Liability. 

In compliance, effectiveJanuary 1, 2025, new and renewing* Bristol West®Personal Auto policies in California, available through Bristol West Insurance Services of California, Inc. will increase to the new state minimum limit of 30/60/15 (BI/PD). 

*The minimum limits change will occur as policies renew, beginning with renewals effective January 1, 2025. There will be no mid-term limit changes. 

Existing policies renewing to the new state minimum limit of 30/60/15 (BI/PD) will see a rate increase. Overall, Liability-only business will see a higher increase and the increase for full-coverage business will be lower.
